How Nivi Got Her Names by Laura Deal, illustrated by Charlene Chua
Publisher: Inhabit Media
How Nivi Got Her Names is a story about traditional Inuit naming and adoption customs. A young girl, Nivi, has many names. One day she decides to ask her mother where all her names come from. Her mother explains that she is named after loved family members who have passed on. Her names honor their memory and continue their stories through Nivi.
The illustrations were done with ink on paper, then scanned and colored in Photoshop.
